![]() While I had absolutely nothing to be bothered with using the AMD, the switch to nVIDIA resulted (again) in a tuning fest. But my experience of the second newest AMD generation is 100% contrary. Many people always criticise the AMD driver suite and over decades the common sense was that AMD cards are great, just not for the ESP based simulators like FS9, FSX and P3D (and Xplane). To be honest, this was some kind of a disappointment to me. NO chance to just install the 4080 and that's it, when I do this, I get very, very annoying screen flickering, I get strange washed out colours, sometimes stuttery experience. G-sync on or off? Vsync on or off? Frame limiter in the NVCP yes or no? Ahead rendered frames setting? Color filters via GeForce Experience or via driver globally? Sharpen? And and and. That is why I switched back to nVIDIA.Īnd guess what? I was back to tuning and testing. ![]() Just no frame generation in the AMD driver suite so far, also nothing on the horizon for at least half a year and no certainity, that it will be implemented into MSFS anyway. Freesync did a wonderful job, nothing to be configured on this side neither. Simply installed the card, the driver and off we went. No driver tweaking, no color adjustments, nothing. And guess what? I did not have to do anything to work perfectly. When I switched from a 1080Ti to the 6900XT, I was really interested, even wondering, how the AMD card will play along with P3Dv5 and MSFS. Let me elaborate this a little bit for you. However, I am surprisingly not 100% happy, how come? I would have never believed this, but the AMD card was actually performing better in several aspects in MSFS. ![]() Together with my G-sync compatible DELL S2721DGF, the sim could not be more smooth. It still produces some artefacts clearly visible, but I will take those everytime for the sake of getting at least 50FPS on big hubs now. Now, some weeks later, time to write a short resume: yes, frame generation is great for MSFS. ![]() I use a single monitor with 1440p resolution and mostly ultra settings, TLOD both at 200. So I took the plunge with a reasonably priced 4080 to replace my 6900XT. I was down to 30FPS, sometimes even below with AI traffic active and this ruined an otherwise great simming experience again and again. due to the fact that my 13600K was struggling so much on heavy airport addon sceneries such as EBBR, KJFK, KLAX and others. ![]()
